Three killed in drunken brawlamong construction workers

Bengaluru: Three men were killed and another was injured after a brawl broke out among tipsy labourers at a construction site on the outskirts of the city Saturday evening.
The workers were partying when the incident took place as they had a holiday for the Holi festival.
The deceased have been identified as Ansu, 20, Radhe Shyam, 20, and Deepu, 18, all from Gopalganj in Bihar. Another labourer, who was injured in the incident, was subjected to a medical test, and taken into custody for inquiry. The suspects – Sonu and Sudheer, also from Gopalganj – are on the run, and four special teams have been formed to nab them.
Citing preliminary investigations, police said Ansu was in touch with Sonu’s sister over the phone for the last few months. Sonu learnt about it and was unhappy with it. The labourers worked at different under-construction buildings but stayed in one of them. Sonu invited Ansu, who was working at Doddakannelli, and others to the building in Sarjapur, where he and others were working.
Saturday afternoon, they gathered as planned and were partying in a room on the third floor of the building. They picked up the topic of Sonu’s sister. It is alleged that Ansu called Sonu’s sister and spoke to her. He also spoke inappropriately about her. This led to an altercation involving Sonu, Ansu, and others. Sonu and Sudheer attacked Ansu with a wooden log and iron rod. Shyam and Deepu intervened to rescue Ansu, but Sonu and Sudheer attacked them too and killed them, police said. One body was found near the passage, and two others were traced to a room. The injured ran out of the room and saved himself.
A case of murder has been registered at Sarjapur police station. Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of police CK Baba, visited the spot. Four special teams have been formed under his supervision, Baba said, adding: “We have got clues about the suspects, and they will be arrested at the earliest.”
Scene of crime officers (SOCOs) also visited the spot and collected evidence. Police questioned the injured person to know what exactly happened. They also detained one more man who too had participated in the party and are examining his involvement. The incident had nothing to do with the Holi celebration, another senior police officer said.
