Three Cops Suspended After Assaulting Garage Workers in Jashipur | Bhubaneswar News

Keonjhar: Three police personnel from Keonjhar’s Sadar police station have been suspended following allegations of assault during an unauthorized raid in Mayurbhanj district‘s Jashipur area. Assistant sub-inspector Akshay Chaudhary and constables Biranchi Nayak and Devendra Jena were suspended for ‘unruly behaviour’ while investigating a vehicle theft case, Sadar police station officer-in-charge Amit Bhuyan said.
The incident took place on Tuesday night when a police team reportedly conducted raids at several garages in Tangabila area without informing local authorities. Garage workers were allegedly beaten up during the operation, prompting protests from local residents.
“Six men arrived in a jeep and assaulted my workers,” said the garage owner in his complaint filed at Jashipur police station. When the police team attempted a second raid despite protests, locals detained them and handed them over to Jashipur police.
Inspector-in-charge of Jashipur police station, Sanjukta Mahalik, said, “A case has been registered and we are investigating to confirm whether the accused are police personnel or others.”
The suspended officers were part of a team investigating a vehicle theft case reported in the Sadar police station area. Disciplinary action was taken pending a full investigation into the incident.
