Three Arrested for Illegal Leopard Skin Trade in Mayurbhanj, India |
Balasore: Forest officials seized a leopard skin and arrested three individuals during a raid in Balikhoni village, Mayurbhanj district, on Monday. One suspect remains at large.
Acting on a tip-off about illegal trading of tiger skin under Bangiriposi range, a joint team from Similipal South and Baripada forest divisions conducted the operation. The suspects were intercepted while attempting to transport the skin on two motorcycles.
“We are interrogating the accused to trace the source and identify other accomplices,” said Samrat Gouda, deputy director of Similipal South.
The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act.TNN
