‘This isn’t comedy-it’s vulgarity’: Shiv Sena’s Shaina NC slams comedian Kunal Kamra | Mumbai News – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC strongly criticized comedian Kunal Kamra on Monday for his controversial remarks about Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde during his new standup special, leading to protests and an FIR being filed against the comedian in Mumbai.
Shaina NC accused Kamra of crossing the line into vulgarity for allegedly referring to the deputy chief minister as “gaddaar” (traitors).
“You call Maharashtra’s most popular CM and Deputy CM ‘gaddaar’ and label it comedy. This isn’t comedy–it’s vulgarity,” Shaina NC stated.
In a video response, she questioned Kamra’s motives and suggested he was being used by the UBT faction of Shiv Sena. “Who is this Kunal Kamra, hired and used as a puppet by UBT as a diversionary tactic? Can you stoop so low for cheap publicity?”
She also highlighted Shinde’s background, stating, “Perhaps you don’t know that Eknath Shinde was an autorickshaw driver who rose to become a CM. That’s aspirational, not comedy. What’s going to become of you is a tragedy.”
The controversy intensified when Shiv Sena workers vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar following Kamra’s remarks about Eknath Shinde.
Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel filed an FIR against Kamra and demanded an apology within two days, threatening to restrict his movement in Mumbai if he failed to comply.
Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske joined the criticism, suggesting Kamra was paid to make these comments. “Kunal Kamra is a hired comedian, and he is making comments on our leader for some money. Let alone Maharashtra, Kunal Kamra cannot freely go anywhere in India; Shiv Sainiks will show him his place.”
Mhaske also took aim at the opposition, stating, “We feel sorry for Sanjay Raut and Shiv Sena (UBT) that they have no party workers or leaders left to make comments on our leader, which is why they are hiring people like him (Kunal Kamra) for the job.”
