Thane man booked for sharing private video of estranged live-in partner | Thane News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Police in Maharashtra‘s Thane have registered a case against a 29-year-old man, Kiran Bagrao, for allegedly circulating a private video of a woman after their live-in relationship ended. The complaint was lodged by a 47-year-old woman who was in a relationship with the accused from August 2022 to January this year.
According to the police, the accused recorded a video of the woman taking a bath and took gold jewellery from her during their relationship.The woman decided to end the relationship and asked Bagrao to return her ornaments. When she refused to meet him, he allegedly circulated the video on WhatsApp and issued death threats.
“When the victim refused to meet the accused, he warned of dire consequences and issued death threats to her,” the official stated.
The incident is being investigated by the local police. The case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (uttering any word or making any gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman). Additionally, provisions of the IT Act have also been invoked.
The official from Kapurbawdi police station of Wagle Estate division said, “The accused and the woman were in a live-in relationship from August 2022 to January this year at Dombivli and Majiwada.”
The police are continuing to probe the matter further.
