Thane: The Thane crime branch has arrested three Bangladesh nationals who were found residing illegally around the Thane railway station.
The arrests followed intelligence inputs to the crime branch sleuths of unit 1 about three who illegally crossed the Bangladesh-India international border, said a police officer.
Police said the suspects did various odd jobs. During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that they changed their names with the help of a handler and even managed to obtain Indian identification documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards, raising serious concerns about document verification processes, said the officer. “We are tracking down the employer and investigating potential connections to a larger network,” said an official. — Nishikant Karlikar
