Temple Facelift: Finish Temple Facelift Before Yatra, Says Mla | Bhubaneswar News


Berhampur: Local MLA K Anil Kumar on Sunday stressed on completion of the ongoing renovation work of the Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple here before the Thakurani Yatra, scheduled to be held in April-May 2025.
Thakurani Yatra is held every alternate year, when the goddess visits her father’s house at Desibehera Street in Bada Bazar area here.
The renovation of the temple at a cost of Rs 20.75 crore started in Jan and is scheduled to be completed in July next year.The public works department is implementing the project.
As the Thakurani Yatra is scheduled to be held in April-May next year, the MLA asked the PWD officials and engineers concerned to speed up the work and ensure its completion before the commencement of the festival, during a visit to review the progress of the project.
“Work is going on with an aim to complete in the scheduled time. It will be expedited to ensure completion before the Thakurani Yatra following the request of the MLA,” said an engineer involved in the project.
Redevelopment works included reconstruction of the main temple in Kalinga style of architecture, its wall and floors. The boundary wall with an attractive entry gate, garden and temple office will also be constructed.
