Temp set to rise in state: IMD | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: IMD has forecast steady rise in temperatures across Odisha in the days to come with a heat wave warning issued for a few districts. According to the mid-day weather bulletin from the meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar, maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2°C to 6°C over the next four days.
The highest recorded temperature on Tuesday was 38°C in Boudh, followed by 37.6°C in Sonepur and 37.3°C in Malkangiri, while the lowest was 18°C in Angul. The IMD warns that by March 29, heat wave conditions are “very likely” to prevail in Balangir, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, and Sonepur districts, prompting a yellow alert for residents.
Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in some parts of north coastal Odisha, while interior districts saw a marked rise in both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Minimum temperatures are expected to increase by 2°C to 3°C over the next three days.
IMD also indicates dry conditions across Odisha for the next week, with no major weather systems in sight. Fishermen are advised that no adverse weather conditions are expected along the coast for the next five days. With rising temperatures and potential heat waves, authorities urge people to take precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
“The weather was quite pleasant for the last few days in the state due to rain and thunderstorms. Day temperatures dropped to the 20s, making the weather so nice and enjoyable. But today we can feel the heat rising again,” said Radhika Sahu, a college student. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Tuesday recorded maximum temperatures of 35.6°C and 34.5°C respectively.
