Telangana Women’s Commission Calls for Respectful Representation of Women in Film Dance Scenes | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Commission for Women Chairperson, Nerella Sharada, advised the film industry not to portray women in an obscene manner, as observed in some dance steps in songs in films recently.
She said the commission would take action if women were degraded in movies.
On Thursday, the commission chairperson stated that it came to the commission’s notice that there was vulgarity, particularly in dance steps in songs. She advised choreographers to be responsible and not do anything that lowers the dignity of women.
She mentioned that it was up to the film industry to regulate itself, given its vast reach and impact on society. The commission has also sought recommendations from social organisations on the matter.
