Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy directs officials to take up awareness programmes on Bhu Bharati

Hyderabad: Chief minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday directed officials to take up awareness programmes in every mandal in the state on the Bhu Bharati portal, which he would be launching on April 14, coinciding with the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution.
The chief minister said the revenue department will conduct a pilot project in three select mandals of the state. “Officials should include suggestions and recommendations from the people in the pilot project and further improve the portal from time to time. The responsibility of organising awareness seminars in all mandals will be entrusted to the district collectors to create awareness at the field-level. The Bhu Bharati portal should be convenient to access for the people,” Revanth said.
On Monday, the CM held a review meeting at his residence on Saturday and made several suggestions to the officials. “The portal will be available to farmers and the public to resolve land issues and provide information related to transactions easily and quickly. The public and farmers should be made aware of Bhu Bharati, and the doubts raised by the people should be cleared in the awareness meetings,” he said.
The portal should have language that is easily understandable. The website, as well as the app, should be managed efficiently. Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, CM’s principal secretaries V. Seshadri and Chandrasekhar Reddy, chief minister’s joint secretary Sangeetha Satyanarayana, CM’s OSD Vemula Srinivasulu, revenue secretary Jyoti Buddhaprakash, CCLA secretary Makarand, and others participated in the review.
The govt will launch the new Bhu Bharati Act, replacing the Dharani portal. The CM will formally dedicate the Act and Bhu Bharati portal to the people on Monday.
The Congress govt passed the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Bill on December 20, 2024, in tune with its 2023 assembly election manifesto promise to dismantle Dharani. The Bill received the Governor’s assent on January 9, 2025, and an expert committee was formed to draft detailed operational guidelines, which were finalised.
Earlier on Friday, revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy slammed the previous BRS govt for introducing the Dharani portal, claiming that it gave the details of 1.57 crore acres of land in Telangana to foreign companies.
