HYDERABAD: Three new ministers, G Vivek Venkata Swamy, Adluri Laxman Kumar, and Vakiti Srihari, were inducted into the Telangana cabinet on Sunday. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath to the new ministers at Rajbhavan this afternoon in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.Of the six vacancies in the state cabinet, against its full strength of 18, three were filled on Sunday, with each from Scheduled Castes Mala and Madiga and Backward Classes. Three more vacancies in the cabinet will be filled towards the end of this year. Meanwhile, another MLA, Ramachandru Naik, will be appointed as deputy speaker of the Telangana assembly.Though there were speculations that one OC minister would be accommodated, especially Bodhan MLA Sudarshan Reddy, the Congress party did not induct any person from OC in this round of cabinet expansion. Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Mancherial MLA Prem Sagar Rao, and others tried for a berth. There were also speculations about taking minority ministers into the cabinet. MLC Amer Ali Khan and govt advisor Mohd Ali Shabbir made efforts to get into the cabinet, but the Congress party did not take anyone from minorities.Interestingly, there is no representation from the legislative council in the cabinet. MLCs Vijayashanthi, Addanki Dayakar, and Amer Ali Khan tried for the berth but did not succeed as the expansion was confined to only MLAs.
