Hyderabad: Eyeing victory in three MLC seats, graduation and teachers’ constituencies that are going to polls, the Telangana BJP leadership has instructed party leaders to target the Congress govt’s policies in the state and highlight promises made to the people during the assembly elections. All senior party leaders have been asked to campaign in their respective areas and ensure the party candidate’s victory.

The party held a poll preparedness meeting on Saturday. Telangana BJP president and Union minister G Kishan Reddy, Union minister Bandi Sanjay, BJP national vice-president DK Aruna, senior leaders like MP K Laxman and others, including party candidates, attended the meeting. Party leaders said the elections must be taken seriously. “The BJP candidates should get first priority votes in the elections,” Kishan Reddy said.
Several leaders opined that the Congress govt in the state was facing resentment among people. “Unemployed youth, govt employees, and intellectuals are unhappy with the govt’s performance. Those sections are important. People are now realising the benefits of a double engine govt,” the BJP state president said.
He hoped the party would unfurl the BJP flag in Telangana in the coming elections just as it did in the Delhi elections, stating the even in other states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the strength of BJP had increased.
Later, the senior BJP leaders held a state executive meeting to chalk out strategy to be adopted for MLC polls.
