Tejashwi Yadav Criticized for Skipping Protest March in Bihar | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Leader of opposition in state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the younger son of RJD president Lalu Prasad, has faced criticism for his absence from recent developments in Bihar, including a protest march by the opposition INDIA bloc on Saturday over the deteriorating law and order situation.
Despite top functionaries from the INDIA bloc attending the protest march in Patna to challenge the Nitish Kumar-led NDA govt in the state, Tejashwi was notably absent. No members of the Lalu family participated in the march, drawing sharp criticism from both opposition and analysts.
Tejashwi also did not visit VIP chief Mukesh Sahani’s village to console him following his father’s brutal murder, though he expressed his condolences through his X handle. This is surprising given that Tejashwi and Sahani had campaigned for LS polls together and were seen enjoying helicopter rides.
D M Diwakar, a political expert, said, “I don’t know why none from Lalu’s family attended the protest march on law and order. They should have capitalized on this issue with the assembly elections approaching next year, which would have bolstered their campaign. This indicates a lack of foresight and highlights strategic shortcomings.”
Even if Tejashwi was unavailable due to unavoidable reasons, his family members should have attended, Diwakar suggested, adding while the Lalu family attended Anant Ambani’s wedding ceremony in Mumbai, they avoided meeting Sahani in his time of grief.
RJD’s ally CPI-ML also criticized the presence of opposition leaders at Ambani’s wedding. “Their action is not in the right direction. The opposition netas should have skipped the wedding,” CPI-ML said in a press release.
The JD(U) accused Tejashwi of working at “cross purposes.” JD(U) spokesperson Rajib Ranjan said, “While his party routinely criticizes the NDA govt over law and order, Tejashwi himself was missing from the protest march. This shows his lack of commitment to allies.” Ranjan said. State RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav said, “Does CM Nitish Kumar participate in every party event himself? His netas and workers do. Similarly, our functionaries joined the protest march in large numbers.”
