Tejashwi Prasad Yadav to start statewide yatra for Bihar assembly elections | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: With the assembly elections scheduled for next year, leader of opposition in state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has planned to embark on a statewide yatra. The yatra will cover all assembly constituencies, with particular emphasis on the Kosi and Seemanchal regions — once strongholds of the RJD.
Although the exact date is yet to be finalised, the yatra is expected to begin around August 17.An RJD functionary said the schedule would be confirmed after the conclusion of the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, marking the start of the party’s preparation for the assembly elections. Sources said during the yatra, Tejashwi would address various issues, including the alleged neglect of Bihar by the central govt, which has not granted the state special status to the state, as well as the deteriorating law and order problems.
RJD state spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan said the yatra would provide Tejashwi an opportunity to meet with the public and express gratitude for their support during the parliamentary elections. “He is a public leader and staying among the people is his primary objective,” Gagan said, adding Tejashwi focuses on public issues rather than the agenda set by the BJP.
In response to questions about Tejashwi’s absence from the Bihar Vidhan Sabha monsoon session despite being the leader of opposition, Gagan said health is a priority, particularly for someone engaged in a prolonged political battle. Tejashwi was reportedly recovering from back pain.
Meanwhile, the RJD is reviewing the performance of its leaders and members in the recent Lok Sabha elections, especially in areas where the party underperformed. The party will issue show-cause notices if it is found that any netas supported candidates outside the INDIA bloc. In July, the RJD had asked four active members from Bhagalpur for an explanation after their names appeared on a committee set up by Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj. The members claimed their names were included without their consent and that they had no knowledge of it.
