Teen electrocuted after coming in contact with 33kV live wire | Bhubaneswar News
Rourkela: A 13-year-old boy was electrocuted on Sunday after coming in contact with a 33 kV power line in Sundargarh district.
Sahil Oram, a Class VI student and resident of Dhob Mahuli Charpada village, was found hanging from a high-tension wire of the Darlipali-OCPL power line by power company officials conducting routine inspection around 3 pm. Police suspect Sahil climbed the transmission tower around 10 am and accidentally came in contact with the power line.
Fire service personnel were called to the scene to retrieve the body. He was shifted to Hemgir community health centre, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Local residents staged a protest demanding compensation for the victim’s family. The demonstration was called off after authorities assured compensation would be provided.
“We have registered an unnatural death case and are investigating the matter,” said P Sahu, inspector in-charge, Hemgir police station.
The post-mortem was conducted on Monday, and the body was handed over to the family members..
