Begusarai: A day after a 36-year-old technician was found hanging at Hindustan Urvarak Rasayan Limited’s (HURL) Barauni plant on Sunday, his family members on Monday alleged that he was murdered. Navin Kumar, a native of Nalanda district, worked as a technician at HURL for a contractor, and was on his night shift duty on Sunday, when he was found hanging from a pipe on the plant premises.Begusarai superintendent of police (SP) Manish on Monday said that preliminary investigation indicated strangulation, caused by the noose, as the reason for his death. “His family members have alleged murder. Only postmortem report would shed further light on the cause of his death,” he said.The HURL, however, has not issued any official communication regarding the death.The victim’s brother Rahul Kumar, in his complaint to police, alleged Navin was killed and the contractor hanged the body to make it appear a case of suicide. He claimed that Navin was in good mental health, and that there was no reason for him to die by suicide. “I suspect he was murdered. He was probably thrashed while on work on the plant premises. He was working at some height. The thrashing resulted in his fall, leading to death,” he said in his police complaint, claiming that his brother did not have any dispute with anyone.Navin had been working at the Barauni plant for the last one month. The information about his death was communicated to his family by his colleagues on Sunday.
