As soon as the protestors reached Punaichak, they were intercepted by the police and asked to return. However, when they refused to comply with the police order, they were baton charged in which several candidates were injured. The police took the leader of the protestors, Dileep Kumar, into custody. They soon sat on the road and demanded release of Kumar. After some time, the teacher aspirants again marched towards the BPSC office. No force was used by the police,” he said.
Neeraj Kumar, a candidate alleged, “The police suppressed our protest by wield batons on us, but we will continue fighting for our rights. We wanted to meet the BPSC chairman peacefully and put forth our demands, but this could not happen because of the police’s action.”
Another aspirant, Manish Keshri said there are many candidates who cleared the exam for various categories of teacher’s post but the counselling was done only for one post while the rest of the posts remained vacant in TRE 1.0 and TRE 2.0, thereby blocking the prospects of other candidates.
