Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin announces Trichy’s library to be named after former chief minister K. Kamaraj | Chennai News – The Times of India

CHENNAI: Chief minister M.K. Stalin announced on Tuesday that the grand library being constructed in Trichy will be named after former chief minister K. Kamaraj.
Speaking in the assembly, Stalin said, “Following the tradition of naming libraries after prominent leaders—such as the Coimbatore library after Periyar, the Chennai library after Anna (former chief minister C.N. Annadurai), and the Madurai library after Kalaignar (former chief minister M. Karunanidhi)—the library under construction in Trichy will be named after Kamaraj.”
After making the announcement, Stalin directed School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi to issue a Government Order (GO) to officially name the Trichy library after Kamaraj.
Stalin had laid the foundation stone for the Trichy Grand Library, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 290 crore, on March 21. Although Kamaraj was instrumental in establishing BHEL in Trichy, no prominent places or landmarks in the city have been named after him.
