Patna: A man was found hanging in the room of his house at Atapur village in the Hasanpur police station area in Samastipur district on Saturday. The family members alleged that he was killed due to an old enmity with some villagers and was hanged later to make it appear like a suicide, police said.
The deceased was identified as Dhananjay Kumar Singh alias Chotu Singh (28), son of the late Shivshankar Prasad Singh from Ward No. 12 of Atapur village. The local police were informed about the incident. Following the notification, Hasanpur Station House Officer (SHO) Nisha Bharti arrived at the scene with her team to assess the situation. Later, the Rosera SDPO also arrived at the location. Additionally, police from Rosera and Singhia stations also visited the scene.
“Chotu was the younger son of late Shivshankar. He earlier used to run a depot near Rahti Baha locality in Hasanpur police station area. Currently, the depot was closed, and he was constructing a poultry farm next to his residence. He slept at his residence on Friday night. Now, his body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the residence. A forensic team collected samples from the scene as it appears a murder,” said Hasanpur SHO, Nisha Bharti.
Bharti further said that according to the deceased’s elder brother, he met his brother in the village, accompanied by two local youths. When called for dinner, he mentioned eating at a feast in Hasanpur market. He returned home late at night and went to sleep in his room. The deceased’s room was on the outer side of the house, the cop said.
“An FIR against two named persons has been filed in the matter on the application given by his elder brother. One suspect has been detained for interrogation, while raids are being carried out to nab the named accused,” added the SHO.
