Chennai: Gnanasekaran, the sole suspect in the Dec 23, 2024 rape of an Anna University student, has been arrested once again, in connection with a 2013 burglary in T Nagar. Though arrested by the T Nagar police in 2014, Gnanasekaran was released on bail and did not appear before the court for trial. After he was apprehended in the rape case and some burglary cases in Pallikaranai, the Mambalam police formally arrested him and produced him before the magistrate court in Saidapet on Thursday. The Mambalam police plan to take him into custody for interrogation. Earlier, the Pallikaranai police arrested a pawnbroker who bought gold stolen by Gnanasekaran. Police recovered 120 sovereigns of jewellery from the pawnbroker.
