Hyderabad: Bomb detection and dog squads from the Ramagundam policeconducted checks at hospitals, medical colleges, courts, and other busy locations on Saturday.Security and surveillance were increased at major installations, including the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) power plant at Ramagundam in Peddapalli district.The Ramagundam police also conducted amock drillat the power plant. CISF personnel and local police, along with officials, conducted the mock drill on Friday to raise awareness on how to quickly react in case of an eventuality.Ramagundam police commissioner Amber Kishore Jha said the mock drill was conducted as per guidelines issued by the central and state govts. “The mock drill was held so that the security forces would be alert to any situation and handle it accordingly,” he said.Police held meetings with officials of Singareni Collieries, Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL), and heads of several industries to enhance security systems.On Saturday, police in Rajanna Sircilla carried out random checks in the district with bomb detection squads and dog squads taking part.SP Mahesh B said the checks were carried out at Vemulawada temple, Nampalli temple, Mid Manair dam, bus stands at Sircilla and Vemulawada, and other busy places. The SP urged the public not to believe in rumours and inform the police by dialling 100 if they came across anything suspicious.
