Rourkela: Most people in Sundargarh district opted to go on picnics on New Year’s Day, with over 10,000 people visiting Khandadhar waterfall on Wednesday.
People welcomed the New Year bursting crackers and celebrating with family and friends at hotels, clubs and restaurants. Several police personnel were deployed at the waterfall on Wednesday to maintain peace.
“On the first day of 2025. I along with my family went to Khandadhar waterfall, and enjoyed a picnic. We enjoyed our time there,” said S K Prasad, a resident of Subdega.
A large number of people also visited the Sarafgarh nature camp under Lephripada police station, Ghoghara Kanakunda and Talsara dam under Talsara police station, Semina ghat of the Ib river.
Many Rourkela residents went with their children to Indira Gandhi Park where two leopards are the latest attractions.
