Subedarganj Railway Station’s Platforms to Get New Numbers Ahead of Maha Kumbh | Prayagraj News
Prayagraj: After construction of new building of Subedarganj railway station, the number of all six platforms at this important satellite station of city will also be changed. On Oct 5, the railway will allot new numbers to the present platforms. Till now, platform number six on the Rajrooppur side will be numbered as platform number one, and the present platform number one, on the Subedarganj railway station side, will become platform number six.
Subedarganj railway station is being expanded to cater to the large number of visitors expected to arrive in the Sangam city during Maha Kumbh. Foremost among the ongoing civil work, the building of the station (on the Rajrooppur side of the station) is now almost ready. Along with it, the circulating areas are being beautified. The Rajrooppur side has a reservation office, enquiry office, booking office, ticket examiner office, waiting room, station master room, and other facilities.
Now that the major trains of Prayagraj Junction will be shifted to Subedarganj, the main entrance will be from the Rajrooppur side. In such a situation, platform number four and five will be called number two and three, respectively. Likewise, platform two-three will be called platform four-five. Further, with the aim of decongesting Prayagraj Junction during Maha Kumbh and facilitating the passengers, Prayagraj Express and Prayagraj-Bikaner Express will operate from Subedarganj from Jan 10 to Feb 28, 2025. By then, the ongoing revamping works at this satellite station of the Sangam city would be put in place, and thus, passenger facilities will increase at Subedarganj railway station. After the success of the rail coach restaurant at Prayagraj Junction, authorities of Prayagraj division of North Central Railways (NCR) have decided to open a similar restaurant at Subedarganj railway station, a satellite railway station of Prayagraj Junction.
The site for establishing the restaurant has been identified by the railway administration of Prayagraj division, and the construction of beams has also commenced over which the coach will be placed. A platform will also be built at the site, which will be used to lay down the rail tracks over which the coach will be placed. Soon, a decommissioned air-conditioned coach will be made available by the railway authorities, which will later be modified to give an interior of a restaurant, even as the outdoor of the restaurant would remain the same as we find in any of the two or three-tier AC coaches of Indian Railways (IR).
