Students gain insights into cop operations

Bhubaneswar: Several school students visited Banki police station in Cuttack district on the occasion of Odisha police foundation day on Tuesday, where they gained insights into police operations and viewed various weapons on display.
“The programme aimed to educate students about police operations, including the roles and responsibilities of officers. The youngsters received detailed explanations about different sections within the station, including the reception centre, investigation wing, computer section, Sishu and Mahila desk, senior citizens security cell and haazat,” said SP (Cuttack rural) Prateek Singh.
During their visit to the police station, the students from B K Bidyapitha engaged in discussions with police staff and asked them questions about crime prevention, traffic rules, community policing and various challenges cops face. “The initiative sought to eliminate traditional apprehensions that students typically harbour towards law enforcement personnel,” the SP said.
The students were particularly fascinated by the demonstration of various sophisticated weapons and police equipment. Officers explained safety protocols. Senior officers spoke about the importance of maintaining law and order, and how citizens can contribute to a safer society. They emphasised the role of police as friends of the public and protectors of society.
