Students Brave Flooded Nullah Daily to Attend School in Rayagada District | Bhubaneswar News

Koraput: At least 15 primary school students, including seven girls, from the tribal village of Neradiguda in Rayagada district, are risking their lives daily by crossing a nullah to attend school in Pindapadar, two km away.
Neradiguda, home to 14 tribal families and located about 10 km from the block headquarters, lacks a primary school, forcing students to brave waist-high water while balancing their books on their heads.
“Water rises and the current becomes stronger during the rainy season, forcing students to miss school on most days,” said Papana Melaka, a local. While the block development officer of Kolnara was unavailable for comment, Bissamkatak MLA Neelamadhab Hikaka said, “I will visit the village soon to assess the situation and take necessary steps to construct a bridge.”
