Keonjhar: A 14-year-old student in Keonjhar district allegedly hanged herself on Saturday after securing low marks in the matriculation examination. She had secured 253 marks out of 600 in the Class X exams, results of which were declared on Friday. Sources said she was distressed after learning that her marks were lower than her classmates.
“After receiving information, we registered a case of unnatural death. Preliminary investigation suggests the student took the extreme step as she scored lower than her tuition batchmates,” said inspector Debaki Nayak.
Police recovered the body, conducted an autopsy, and handed it over to her family. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
