Rourkela: A first-year undergraduate student was killed in an accident on the on the Koida-K Balang road when a truck hit a motorcycle he was riding pillion on Monday. The incident occurred while he was returning home from college.
Alka Bada (19), a resident of Fakirmunda village in Sundargarh district’s Bonai subdivision, was riding pillion when the truck struck the motorcycle from behind around 5 pm. The impact threw Bada off the vehicle, killing him on the spot. The motorcycle’s driver escaped with minor injuries.
Locals staged a brief protest following the incident, blocking the road. The situation was brought under control after police intervention.
K Balang police have detained the truck driver and seized both vehicles. The victim’s body has been sent to Bonai sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem.TNN
