Strengthening Community and Wildlife Bonds: Addressing Human-Elephant Conflict in Rourkela | Bhubaneswar News

Rourkela: Wildlife Trust of India and RNP Foundation, in partnership with Earth Crusaders Organisation, conducted a community and forest department coalition meeting at Rourkela forest division on Tuesday. The event, aimed at bridging gaps between communities in human-elephant conflict regions, saw the participation of 90 people and 60 forest staff.
Assistant conservator of forests Duryodhan Jerai discussed recent changes in elephant behaviour, while DFO Jasabanta Sethi highlighted constitutional wildlife rights and technological solutions for elephant monitoring. A screening of ‘The Secret Life of Asian Elephants’ was also organised. The meeting also emphasised sustainable agricultural practices to minimise human-elephant conflicts.TNN
