Stone Pelting: 2 held for hurling stones at exp train | Bhubaneswar News



Bhubaneswar: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday arrested two persons who were suspected to be involved in a stone-pelting incident targeting the Kamakhya-Bengaluru Express near Nirakarpur on Thursday evening. They were identified as Ramesh Majhi (38) of Golabai village and Sadasib Pradhan (33) of Nakula Patna village under Jankia police station in Khurda district.They were in an inebriated state when RPF team caught them near the tracks.
When asked, they confessed to consuming alcohol and engaging in the reckless act of throwing stones at a passing train. The duo could not provide a satisfactory explanation for their presence in the vicinity of the tracks. “They admitted to their actions, citing the influence of alcohol,” said an official statement of East Coast Railway.
RPF (Khurda Road) had started a probe into the matter after getting information about the incident. With the help of the train’s ticket examiner, RPF confirmed the incident took place between Golabai and Nirakarpur railway stations on the Chennai-Howrah mainline. The RPF has registered a case against the duo on relevant sections of the Railway Act for breaching railway safety.
