Keonjhar: Police recovered a stolen van containing several boxes of liquor from Jharkhand’s Chaibasa on Wednesday night. The vehicle was reported stolen from an area under Champua police station limits in Keonjhar district the previous night.
According to police sources, the van belonging to MD Khurshid was stolen from outside his residence late Tuesday night. The owner filed a complaint at Champua police station on Wednesday morning.
During investigation, CCTV footage revealed that the thieves drove the vehicle towards Jharkhand via Godhuli village road. En route, the criminals broke into a govt liquor shop near the Jharkhand border, looted alcohol supplies, and fled with the stolen goods in the same vehicle.
“The vehicle was recovered from Chaibasa following CCTV surveillance and search operations. Both the van and the looted liquor have been forwarded to court,” said Debaki Nayak, IIC of Champua police station.
The perpetrators reportedly abandoned the vehicle near Chaibasa after it ran out of fuel. While the accused remain at large, police have intensified their investigation to apprehend them. Champua police are working closely with their Jharkhand counterparts to track down the criminals involved in this interstate theft and liquor robbery case.
