STF exposes illegal immigration network | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The special task force (STF) of the crime branch on Saturday revealed that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants enter Odisha via Assam through middlemen, who are paid Rs 35,000 for helping one infiltrator.
Interrogation of Mohammad Hasim, the kingpin operating illegal immigration with the help of one Jagadish Das, revealed that Bangladeshis pay Rs 35,000 to Hasim’s agents to enter Odisha and pay Rs 30,000 while exiting. “While Hasim operates the entire operation of illegal immigration, Das was providing shelters to the immigrants at various places during their infiltration,” said STF SP Rabi Satapathy.
He added that in the past two years, illegal immigration increased. “Both Jagadish and Hasim also arrange their fake identity proofs and other documents,” Satapathy added. On March 8, the STF nabbed 10 Bangladeshi nationals, including Hasim and Das. It applied for their remand for further interrogation.
