State transfers land to Centre for AIIMS-D in Bihar | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: The state govt on Monday transferred 150 acres of land to the Centre for the construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga. This development comes less than three weeks after the Centre approved the establishment of the institute at Ekmi-Shobhan Bypass in Darbhanga district.
State health minister Mangal Pandey said 150 acres have been handed over and an additional 37 acres will soon be provided, making a total of 187 acres available for the construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga.The minister expressed pride in Bihar becoming the second state to have two AIIMS. “The construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga will lead to a massive improvement in health infrastructure in the state. This is a major gift to Bihar from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and health minister J P Nadda. This project is being implemented under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar,” he said.
Pandey said the establishment of AIIMS in Darbhanga would drive development in nearby districts and create employment opportunities.
The Centre approved the AIIMS project in Darbhanga on July 25. Earlier, the Centre had rejected the state’s proposal for an AIIMS at Shobhan, citing the land’s unsuitability.
