State debt has doubled under DMK: Anbumani

Chennai: PMK president and Rajya Sabha member Anbumani Ramadoss said the total debt, including direct and indirect, increased to 14 lakh crore, which means that govt has imposed a per capita debt of 1.94 lakh on every citizen. Addressing a public meeting in Chennai to analyse the general and farm budgets presented by DMK govt, Anbumani said the state’s debt had doubled.
“DMK govt accumulated in four years the same amount of debt that Tamil Nadu took 74 years to accumulate after independence. Is this governance or mismanagement? Running a govt by taking loans is not a great achievement anyone can do that! A skilled administration should generate non-tax revenue. Raising money through taxes alone is not an achievement,” he said.
“The current Tamil Nadu govt does not know what it’s doing the administration is in a state of chaos,” he said.
Anbumani said illegal sand mining is rampant in the state, yet the govt claims only 40 crore as annual income from it.
“There is no law and order in the state. Talented police officers are sidelined,” he said.
He said there are many important issues to address, but the DMK and BJP are creating a language issue to distract people.
He said PMK’s language policy is simple. “Learn your mother tongue well. English can serve as the global link language. Learning a third language is not wrong, but forcing it is wrong.”
