State aims for big investments at biz meet beginning today

Patna: After the success of the Bihar Business Connect (BBC) last year, the state is all geared up for the inauguration of its second edition on Thursday at Gyan Bhawan here. The two-day event—Bihar Business Connect-2024—will witness presence of eminent industrialists and state cabinet ministers and is expected to surpass the MoUs and investments seen in the first edition.
While talking to TOI over the phone, state industries minister Nitish Mishra said the Bihar Business Connect-2024 would set in a new era of industrialisation in Bihar. He lauded the efforts put in by his department officials in making preparations for the event.
Last year, MoUs worth Rs 50,530 crore were inked during the BBC-2023, of which nearly 76% have started taking shape. When asked about the MoUs expected this time, Mishra said, “It will definitely be higher than last year.”
Industries department secretary Bandana Preyashi called the Bihar Business Connect-2024 a momentous occasion for the state, adding investors were now opting for Bihar. She attributed the tailored schemes and policies of the govt as some of the reasons attracting investors here, along with ease of doing business.
As per the official release shared by the department, on the first day of the two-day event, six sessions will be held with participation from several renowned industrialists. Key attendees will include Arvind Shukla, director, JK Lakshmi Cement; Anand Jha, CEO, Pristine Group; Sanjay Khemka, MD, Pinax Steel; along with several other industry leaders.
CM Nitish Kumar will be the chief guest on the second day and he will also unveil a coffee table book—”Bihar: A Journey of Industrial Transformation”. The book highlights the govt’s various initiatives, policies, and policy reforms in details. It also include insights into sector-specific initiatives and policies that aim to assist industries in making informed investment decisions in Bihar.
Some major MoUs are expected to be signed in the presence of the CM. A CEO round-table will also be organised on the second day in the presence of deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary and industries minister Nitish Mishra.
Six sessions focussing on various industrial sectors will be held on the first day of the event, which will be attended by renowned industrialists and state cabinet ministers.
