Startup: Odisha-based BonV Aero Raises ₹14 Crore Funding After Winning US Reality TV Show | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable feat, BonV Aero, an Odisha-based deep-tech drone startup, has secured an impressive Rs 14 crore funding after emerging victorious at a reality television show in the US.
The startup, which was founded in Odisha, represented India at the show and went up against startups from 10 other countries, including the US, Taiwan, Spain, Brazil, Paris and Italy.
During a press conference in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, Satyabrata Satpathy, one of the founders and CEO of BonV Aero, announced the achievement and emphasised that the funding will enable them to further their research and development efforts in the deep-tech drone sector.
Satapathy claimed that their startup is the first Indian company to win and raise such a substantial amount from a global competition. He said Tim Draper, known for his early investments in major global companies, was highly impressed by BonV Aero’s innovative approach and vision.
BonV Aero started its journey with seven members and was incubated in a private engineering college on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Since its inception in 2021, the startup has grown to a team of 40 members and now has a manufacturing unit in Bhubaneswar.
“Our startup is specialised in developing advanced logistics drones. We have delivered advanced drones to the Indian Army in the past. Our drones have demonstrated the capability to operate at high altitudes, above 10,000 feet, and in challenging environments,” Satyabrata claimed.
He expressed that this victory fills Odisha with immense pride and serves as a powerful example for aspiring entrepreneurs across India.
He said, “Our victory demonstrates the endless possibilities that come from dedication, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.”
Abhinash Sahoo, another founder, said the success of BonV Aero not only highlights the potential of Odisha’s startup ecosystem but also showcases the talent that exists within the state. This achievement is expected to inspire more entrepreneurs in Odisha, he said.
