Star Air Launches New Flights from Jharsuguda Airport in January 2025 | Bhubaneswar News

Jharsuguda: Star Air will begin operations from Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) airport, Jharsuguda, starting Jan 1, 2025. The Bangalore-based airline will initially launch bi-weekly flights connecting Jharsuguda to Hyderabad and has plans to expand services to Raipur and Lucknow. “This expansion marks a significant milestone for VSS Airport,” said airport director Sandeep Kumar Tiwari.
Star Air’s initial schedule includes flights on Mondays and Sundays. From Feb 1, the airline will introduce Jharsuguda-Raipur flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and Jharsuguda-Lucknow flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. VSS Airport, a 4C category facility, is equipped to handle Airbus 321-type aircraft.
“Our terminal can handle 270 passengers per hour and we’re working on expanding this capacity,” Tiwari added. The airport features modern CAT 1 navigational systems and can accommodate six large aircrafts simultaneously.
With these new routes, the airport is poised to become a critical hub, improving regional connectivity and driving economic growth in western Odisha.
