MUMBAI: Rambharose stall outside CSMT on Badruddin Taiyyabji Marg was demolished by the BMC on Wednesday, addressing a long-standing issue of encroachment on the footpath.
The stall’s license had expired, and although recertification was sought, authorities cited its obstruction of pedestrian movement near the newly constructed Himalaya FOB as the reason for its removal.
“This stall had been causing hindrance to pedestrians, especially during peak hours, at the west-side staircase landing of the Himalaya FOB. Its removal by the maintenance department of A Ward has created more space and eased pedestrian movement along the stretch,” said a civic official.
The demolition is expected to improve access for commuters and reduce congestion outside the bustling railway station, particularly during rush hours.
