Chennai: Giving educational institutions two agendas a scientific approach and social justice chief minister M K Stalin on Saturday said the govt reaction would be severe if any event against them is conducted in schools and colleges.
At a function held to felicitate the govt for winning the case against the governor in Supreme Court, Stalin called the Governor’s post a ‘good for nothing rubber stamp post’,
On TN’s decision to approach Supreme Court for assent to 10 bills empowering state to appoint vice-chancellors to state universities, he said, “The colleges are situated on govt land, the govt is paying the salaries of teachers, and the facilities have been provided by the govt. But, the vice-chancellor can be appointed only by the Governor. How is it fair? That’s why we decided to approach the court.”
“Vice-president Jagdeep Dhankar said Parliament has more powers. We are also saying the same. Assembly has more powers than the Governor. We are not in a power struggle with the Governor. We do not have any personal grievance. If someone else comes as a governor and does the same, we will still oppose him. We will not give up our rights at any time.”
“I have been telling that education is the only wealth that cannot be stolen. I will say it again a hundred times. Because the union govt is bringing newer schemes such as NEP and Viswakarma scheme. Social media is giving wrong advice to the children. Please do not look for your role models on social media … Whatever the obstacles, we will clear them and continue to educate. It is our duty,” Stalin said.
At the event where Dravidar Kazhagam president K Veeramani, TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai, VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan, ministers Duraimurugan, Govi Chezhiaan, and others took part, Stalin was praised for the verdict.
