HYDERABAD: An SSC student died, and her brother sustained severe injuries in an accident on the Gachibowli flyover on Saturday noon after their bike was struck by an HMDA double-decker bus.
The deceased identified as Prabhati (16), suffered a severe head injury and died on the spot. Her brother, Suman, was injured and is undergoing treatment, police said.
The Raidurgam police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the police, the victim’s brother picked her up from her exam centre in Gachibowli and was riding towards Lingampally when the accident occurred. While crossing the flyover, a double-decker bus collided with their bike, causing both siblings to fall under the wheels of the bus along with their vehicle.
The accident led to a traffic jam on the flyover. Police rushed to the scene, shifted Prabhati’s body for a post-mortem examination (PME), and cleared the vehicles involved in the accident to restore traffic flow.
