SSA Ganjam hosts competitions to mark Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Berhampur: The Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Ganjam organized competitions for school students on Wednesday at VV Giri Government Girls High School to commemorate Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), celebrating Mahatma Gandhi‘s return from South Africa in 1915. Over 150 students participated in events like cycle riding, essay writing, poster exhibitions, and quizzes.
Inaugurated by district education officer Amita Patnaik, the event aimed to raise awareness about PBD, which is being hosted in Bhubaneswar with participation from overseas Indians. Chikiti MLA Manoranjan Dyansamantra and Berhampur mayor Sanghamitra Dalei attended the closing ceremony, distributing prizes to winners.
MLA Dyansamantra highlighted the crucial role of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in Odisha’s development. “The contribution of pravasi Bharatiyas will be instrumental in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he said.
