Speeding luxury car crashes into home, none hurt | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Two occupants of a speeding luxury car escaped unhurt after it crashed into a house after breaking through a roadside barrier near Sastri Nagar traffic chowk here in the early hours of Tuesday. All those present in the home were also not injured.
The accident took place at 2.30 am when the car was speeding from Red Cross Square towards Sastri Nagar traffic chowk. The driver lost control while attempting a right turn at the traffic post towards Jayadev Vihar, veering the vehicle over the footpath barrier.
The vehicle smashed through the barrier before crashing into a house along the footpath, causing damage to the building’s entrance. A shop belonging to the family, located at the entrance, was also severely damaged.
Rama Sahoo, a resident, said that her son Dipak always slept in the shop. But he opted to sleep in the house that night, avoiding potential harm.
Rama said that Deepak had returned after visiting a relative in hospital around midnight. “We had our dinner and went to sleep after locking the shop,” Rama said.
The family was awakened by a loud crash at 2.30 am, discovering the car had damaged their house. “I saw two men exit the vehicle and leave on foot. They survived due to the car’s airbags. When I sought an explanation from them for the damage to our home due to their rash driving, they left without saying anything,” Rama said.
When Deepak sought compensation, the two men shared their phone numbers and address, promising to repair the house and shop. “I saw them retrieving some alcohol bottles from their damaged vehicle before walking away,” Deepak said.
He then alerted Kharavela Nagar police, who shifted the damaged vehicle to the police station in the morning. Deepak lodged a formal complaint, requesting the driver’s arrest and compensation.
“We tried to reach out to the two men, but their phones were unreachable. They have been identified and will be questioned. CCTV footage will be examined. A case has been registered against the driver,” an officer of Kharavela Nagar police station said.
