Patna: The Sonepur division of East Central Railway (ECR) has made special arrangements to manage the increased passenger rush during the Kartik Purnima Mela. Sonepur divisional railway manager (DRM) Vivek Bhushan Sood said efforts were being made to streamline operations and ensure passenger convenience.
To address the high demand, 24 additional ticket counters have been set up — 14 in Sonepur and 10 in Hajipur. “This special arrangement will facilitate faster ticket distribution and ease the burden on existing counters,” Sood said. The division has also introduced a pre-printed ticket facility at all major stations, enabling passengers to collect tickets from designated counters, further reducing wait times.
Seventy-four ticket-checking staff (TCs) have been deployed at key stations and onboard trains to ensure proper ticketing and maintain order. “Railway Protection Force personnel have been deployed in full strength at all major stations to ensure safety and security,” said the DRM. RPF staff, along with ticket checkers, will manage crowd control and prevent any untoward incidents. Senior officers from operational and supervisory wings have also been assigned duty at stations and on trains to oversee smooth operations.
Special trains and additional coaches are being deployed on high-demand routes to accommodate the large number of devotees. “Officers have been directed to stay in constant touch with the Sonepur division control room to resolve any issues during emergencies,” said Sood.
The railways has urged passengers to cooperate with staff, adhere to safety guidelines and utilise the facilities.
