Gaya: Union micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday said special category status for Bihar, a long-standing demand, was not viable under NITI Aayog guidelines.
“However, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) govt led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made provisions for more financial assistance for the state’s development.Provisions have been made for the development of Bihar keeping in view ‘vikas bhi, virasat bhi’ (conservation of heritage with development). Around Rs 58,900 crore has been allocated for the development of infrastructure, industry, energy and tourism in the state,” Manjhi said.
He said Mahabodhi and Vishnupad tourist corridors in Gaya and tourist and religious spots in Nalanda and Rajgir will be upgraded. “There will also be a focus on infrastructure development such as roads and bridges, new airports, hospitals, sports structures and more,” he said.
“The ministers of the NDA govt have been asked to make proper publicity of the budgetary provisions aimed at the development of different sectors across the country so that people are made aware of development initiatives,” Manjhi added.
