SOG jawans risk allowance increased from Rs 8K to Rs 25K | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced an increase in the monthly ‘risk allowance’ of special operations group (SOG) jawans from Rs 8,000 to Rs 25,000. The SOG, established within Odisha Police in 2004, focuses on counter-terrorist and extremist operations.
The increase follows a successful joint anti-Maoist operation conducted by Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and CRPF forces, resulting in 14 Maoist casualties along the inter-state border over two days.
“The SOG personnel of Odisha Police played a crucial role in this operation. The chief minister extended his congratulations to all the personnel involved in the operation,” stated the CMO. The CM indicated plans to strengthen anti-Maoist operations in Odisha.
Odisha police reported that approximately 75 SOG personnel participated in the extensive joint operation, which commenced at Kularighat reserve forest in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband in Monday’s early hours. One SOG jawan sustained injuries in Tuesday’s gunfight.
The SOG personnel received specialised training in anti-terrorist and anti-extremist combat operations, non-conventional jungle warfare, neutralising extremist or terrorist hideouts and defended centres, and handling situations involving terrorist-occupied buildings, installations, and aircraft.
