‘Techie admitted to consuming alcohol & losing control of car’

Mumbai: The blood samples of software engineer Vijay Gore, who crashed his Audi into an autorickshaw, which then hit another autorickshaw, in Mulund in the early hours of Monday, have been sent for forensic tests to confirm for alcohol presence and the report is expected in a day or two. Four people were injured in the incident.
During preliminary inquiries, Gore reportedly admitted to police to having consumed alcohol in Bhandup and, under its influence, losing control of the vehicle, which resulted in the collision.He claimed to have fled the scene over fear of being lynched by the public, police sources said.

The Audi collided with the auto driven by Santosh Walekar (59), a resident of Dumping Road in Mulund (West), which hit the other auto driven by Vivek Jaiswal (26), a resident of Ashok Nagar, Mulund (West). Both autos had one passenger each. While one of the two passengers, Hanumant Chavan (57), suffered a fracture to a leg, the other, Prakash Jadhav (46), fractured a wrist and a leg. Jadhav, who is the complainant in the case, is a resident of Shivaji Nagar in Thane; he was in the auto driven by Walekar. Chavan, a Mulund resident who works in the railways, was travelling in Jaiswal’s vehicle.
Both Chavan and Walekar were thrown several feet away on impact and the autos were damaged, said the police.
Details of the injuries suffered by the two auto drivers were not disclosed at the time of going to press.
The accident occurred around 6:30am near the dumping ground at Mulund Check Naka. Gore fled to his Mulund home, leaving his mobile phone in the car, but found his door locked as his wife had left for work. He then took a train to Kanjurmarg to his sister’s residence. Within an hour of the accident, police reached Kanjurmarg and arrested him. The Audi has been seized by the police.
It may be recalled that on the morning of July 7, Mihir Shah (24), son of a Shiv Sena functionary, Rajesh Shah, had rammed his BMW into a scooter in Worli. Mihir was allegedly drunk at the time of the accident. His family driver Rishiraj Bidawat (30) was seated next to him at the time of the accident. A couple, Pradip Nakhwa (50) and his wife Kaveri (45), who were riding on the scooter fell on the bonnet of the BMW. While Pradip fell from the bonnet to the ground, Kaver’s saree got stuck in the wheel and she was dragged for more than 1.5 km. Police said Mihir had bought beer and consumed it and had also visited a Juhu pub.
