Smartphones ban for Patna police constables on duty from December 27 | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: In a bid to improve policing, the Patna police issued an order banning the use of smartphones by constables while on duty.
The order, issued by the DIG-cum-Patna SSP, Rajeev Mishra‘s confidential branch, states that constables will not be allowed to carry smartphones while on duty, except in special circumstances where they can use keypad phones.
“The decision was taken after it was observed that the constables were often found using smartphones while on duty, which was affecting their performance and discipline. The order will come into effect from December 27, and will be applicable to all constables in the Patna district,” the order said.
According to the order, the use of smartphones by constables while on duty is a serious offence and will be considered as dereliction of duty, indiscipline and unprofessional behaviour.
