Bengaluru: Two brothers — science and commerce graudates — were arrested on charging of snatching chains to fund their lavish lifestyle. They are V Sudeep, 44, and V Rajath, 38, residents of Thimma Reddy Layout in Horamavu.
On April 7, two men on a bike followed an elderly woman walking in 1st Block, HBR Layout, and snatched her gold chain before fleeing the scene. Cops examined CCTV footage, gathered key details and arrested the duo.
Sudeep, a BSc graduate, and Rajath, a BCom graduate, had worked in private companies but quit their jobs. According to police, they turned to crime to sustain their extravagant lifestyle.
Investigation revealed the brothers were involved in chain-snatching incidents over the past year. In 2024, they carried out similar crimes in Kodigehalli, Magadi Road and Vidyaranyapura for which they were arrested and jailed. However, after being released on bail in March, they started snatching chains once again.
The duo used a stolen bike to commit the offences. Police recovered gold worth ₹1.5 lakh from them.
