Mumbai: The Unit 1 Crime Branch team of the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) commissionerate arrested two brothers, for plotting a murder and giving a contract to kill a rival, on Saturday. The cops are also investigating the entire family and their roles in the murder. However, the shooter is still at large and police have dispatched teams to arrest him.They have also recovered the weapon, a desi katta, used for the crime.
“We arrested the main accused Yusuf Alam, 34, from Badlapur and his younger brother Saif Ali Khan, 32, from Nalasopara,” said DCP (Crime) Avinash Ambure. He added that a magazine and 6 rounds was recovered from Khan. The accused were produced in court and were given 7 days of police custody. They have been booked under BNS 103(1) (punishment for murder), 61(2)(a) (criminal conspiracy) and various sections of the arms act.
According to police, the brothers were involved in extortion several other criminal activities. Yusuf had several cases against him and a notice to be externed is also pending.
