Shopkeeper shot dead over denial of cigarettes | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: A shopkeeper was shot dead, while his brother sustained bullet injuries when he allegedly refused to give cigarettes to three youth at Maksoodpur under Fatuha police station area in Patna on Sunday night.
Police arrested an accused Anil Mahato, son of Vakeel Mahato, on Monday morning and forwarded him to judicial custody in this connection. The motorcycle used by the youth was also seized by the police.
Nikhil Kumar, SDPO-II, Fatuha, said the incident took place around 10.30pm on Sunday, when three youth reached the house of Raman Das and asked him to open his shop and give cigarettes to them.“The shopkeeper told them that he had closed his shop, which was close to his house, and asked them to come next day,” he said.
“When he refused to give cigarettes, the criminals had a brawl with Raman and his brother Rudal Das (40). They whisked out a pistol and opened fire on the shopkeeper. While Raman died on way to hospital his brother sustained bullet injuries in his hand,” the SDPO said.
