Shooting case: Ricky Rai says he’ll seek vengeance if justice not served | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: Former underworld operator Muthappa Rai’s son Ricky Rai, who survived an attempt on his life recently after a gunman opened fire, on Tuesday said he would seek vengeance if justice is not served. Interestingly, Ricky made the statement outside the Bidadi police station in Bengaluru South district. Ricky said he escaped by God’s grace and that he was strong. “I would like to mention that I must get justice, else I will seek vengeance,” he said.“As you are all aware, I was attacked outside Bidadi bungalow. The shooter pumped the bullets at my vehicle; one bullet hit my nose and the other my shoulder. I have shared the details of the suspect with police; I cannot comment on anything as investigation is going on,” Ricky said.According to a senior police official, they wanted a detailed statement from Rai and therefore summoned him. However, police said Rai’s announcement of “vengeance” cannot be accepted. “Legally and morally, it is wrong. This may put him in legal trouble in future if something happens to the suspects in the case,” he said.On the intervening night of April 18 and April 19, an unidentified person fired two rounds of bullets at a sports utility vehicle carrying Ricky, his gunman, and driver. The bullets pierced the driver’s door and injured Ricky who was seated in the back. He was operated on for a broken nose and injured shoulder. Later, police arrested Vittal Monappa, in his late 50s and a former gunman of Muthappa Rai, on charges of firing at Ricky over a personal issue. Police have sent the two guns used by Monappa to the forensic science laboratory.
